Director's Letter: Special New Year's Edition of
HCJFS Update Helps You do Business with Us
With the new year, I pledge a
renewed commitment to customer service.
Hundreds of thousands of Hamilton County residents do business with our agency each year. Our reach is among the top “businesses” in this community.
Whether someone is involved in a child support case – at least one in three Hamilton County residents – a public assistance case – one in six and growing – or involved in one of our smaller programs, such as Children’s Services, Child Care or the SuperJobs Center, we touch a sizable portion of this county’s 800,000 residents in some way.

Did you know? The best way to apply for public assistance with HCJFS
As we enter 2013, the agency does so with a record nine months
straight of
processing more than 90 percent of food assistance applications within
30 days, an accomplishment no other metropolitan county has
been able to match. That means consumers have been able to access much-needed food, cash, and medical assistance (Medicaid) as
quickly as
possible.
To get to this point, HCJFS
implemented a series of changes over the past few years to
process more cases
with fewer people. In addition, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services created
an online portal to allow individuals to submit their information
online, ensuring HCJFS receives information more quickly.

Did You Know? Use SuperJobs.com to aid your job search
In July, Hamilton County
Job and Family Services absorbed operation of the SuperJobs Center,
Hamilton County's one-stop employment center.
The SuperJobs Center
assists job seekers in finding the right job through free educational
workshops, career coaching and job leads. The SuperJobs Center also
helps employers find the best candidates by posting openings and
recruiting and screening applicants.
Since HCJFS began
operating the center, the agency has tried to improve access to
services. As a result, much information can be found online at
www.superjobs.com.

Did you know? Who to call with questions about child care
Since 2010, the delivery
of publicly funded child care in Ohio has gone through a number of major
changes.
Beginning with the
transfer of responsibility for provider payments from the county to the
state and ending with the unveiling of new swipe cards for consumers,
there have been a number of alterations for both providers and
consumers.

Did you know? Approximately 190 Hamilton County children are waiting for adoption
In November, HCJFS
caseworkers celebrated as 13 children were adopted by seven loving
families in a mass adoption ceremony. Those 13 were just a small
portion of the children adopted by loving, devoted forever families this
year.
Despite these
successes, many children remain in HCJFS custody. We at HCJFS strive to
ensure each and every child
has a family to love them forever.
