Summer Youth Employment Program
A partnership between HCJFS, the Cincinnati-Hamilton County
Community Action Agency (CAA) and the Day Group will result in
employment for several hundred teens this summer.
Youth between the ages of 16 and 24 from underprivileged
households gain work experience and job preparation while employers gain
access to summer labor. Youth may be eligible when their household is at
or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guideline.
Youth can apply at the
CAA or the Day Group to see if they are eligible. Those organizations
will find placements for eligible teens and HCJFS pays their salaries
through Workforce Investement Act funding.
In the past, participants have been placed at Cincinnati Recreation Center, local parks, ArtWorks and some retail jobs in the community. Youth are paid up to $10 an hour and transportation may be available.
The program has existed for many years and is expected to serve a record number of kids in 2013.
