OhioMeansJobs Cincinnati – Hamilton County continues to outperform peers

We recently released the 2014 annual report for OhioMeansJobs Cincinnati-Hamilton County. This has been a banner year for the agency as we continue to connect Hamilton County residents and employers.

A few points to brag about:

Second only to Cuyahoga County (which has the greatest population), we help more people get jobs than any other county in Ohio.

How do we do this? OhioMeansJobs Cincinnati-Hamilton County is the best in the state at connecting job seekers with the services they need. We enroll more job seekers in Workforce Investment Act services than any other metro area — meaning our job seekers are connecting with workshops and career coaches — and we provide far more training funds and supportive services than our peers. We help Hamilton County residents find work.

We provide services at a lower cost than anyone.

In the last two years, since Hamilton County Job and Family Services took over operation of the center, we have increased the proportion of dollars spent on direct service to our residents from 25 percent to 62 percent. That means we are spending less money on administration of the program and more money providing Hamilton County residents tuition and wage reimbursement and transportation assistance.

That’s not to say there aren’t areas we can’t improve. In 2014, we hope to serve more dislocated workers, for instance. But we are proud that OhioMeansJobs Cincinnati-Hamilton County continues to be among the best in the state.
