Second Kiosk Installed in the Lobby

You may have noticed some recent changes in our lobby.

Following the success of the first, a second kiosk has been installed in HCJFS’s lobby to allow consumers to scan documents directly into their case.

Prior to the first kiosk, consumers were required to submit application documents through the mail, fax or in an agency drop box. Those documents were later scanned by agency employees and delivered to the appropriate caseworker.

The kiosk has allowed consumers to skip that step and have their application or verification documents scanned into the agency’s document imaging system immediately. The documents are instantly returned and consumers receive an on-the-spot receipt for what was submitted.

Because scanned documents are immediately available to caseworkers, the consumer is able to avoid any unnecessary delays. The system is also free and easy to use.

The first kiosk was installed in July of last year. Since then, it has been a major success – making it easier for consumers to submit documents and staff to receive them.

A second kiosk was installed in early September of this year and both kiosks were moved into the east lobby. In the first two weeks after its implementation there was an 82 percent increase in the number of documents received through the kiosks.

In addition, both kiosk have also received an upgrade, adding the potential to scan more varied types of verification documents.

The second kiosk has also allowed the agency to eliminate the drop box.

Although this means all consumers now have to come through the metal detector to drop off documents, the benefit of faster service will far outweigh any inconvenience.

Both kiosks are available during lobby hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
