Tomorrow night is our annual Celebration of Dreams event, where we honor all of the foster youth in our care who graduated this year. It is always a wonderful event and often the only graduation party many of them will have.
We do it up right. Semi-formal, with a sit-down dinner, graduation certificates and gifts, an inspirational speaker and even a fun video that the grads participate in. The whole night will be a lot of fun.
I do not want the message to get lost though: these young people have overcome great odds to graduate high school. They are the definition of at-risk. But with incredible inner strength and the right support, they have made it.
I am proud of them. I hope you are, too.
