Exciting Time for Foster Youth Who are Graduating

Weir2010Tomorrow night is our annual Celebration of Dreams event, where we honor all of the foster youth in our care who graduated this year. It is always a wonderful event and often the only graduation party many of them will have.

We do it up right. Semi-formal, with a sit-down dinner, graduation certificates and gifts, an inspirational speaker and even a fun video that the grads participate in. The whole night will be a lot of fun.

I do not want the message to get lost though: these young people have overcome great odds to graduate high school. They are the definition of at-risk. But with incredible inner strength and the right support, they have made it.

I am proud of them. I hope you are, too.
