HEMI Seeks Mentors

The Higher Education Mentoring Initiative is again looking for long-term mentors. Help us spread the word by encouraging your friends and family members to seriously consider becoming a HEMI mentor.

HEMI fills an important gap in the foster care community; HEMI provides mentors who encourage, guide and befriend foster children to obtain their higher education goals.

Since it began in 2009, the award-winning program has helped dozens of foster students graduate high school and attend college.

Now, HEMI is looking for additional volunteers. Mentors commit to at least two hours of personal interaction each week with their student. Once a month, they attend a HEMI social activity. They are also expected to be available via telephone, email, texting, etc. The most effective mentors are able to engage in a relationship based on trust and understanding.

For more information, visit www.HEMImentors.org or contact Annie Schellinger at (513) 556-4368 or annie.dick@uc.edu.
