Remember to Report Elder Abuse and Neglect
Most people already know we work hard every day to investigate allegations of child abuse and neglect and provide services to help those families.
But what many Hamilton County residents don’t know is that we serve seniors too.
Last year, we conducted 477 investigations into reports of elder abuse and neglect.
Like our Children’s Services cases, our dedicated staff responds to calls to our 24 hotline – 421-LIFE (5499) – and identifies risks to the safety and well-being of elderly residents.

New Cash and Food Assistance Cards
Beginning in June,
Hamilton County’s cash and food assistance consumers will start
receiving new electronic benefit cards.The cash assistance
card, formerly known as Ohio EPPICard, is now the Ohio Pathway
Card. The look of this card will also change. The food
assistance cards will continue to be called the Ohio Direction
Card but the look will change. The benefits, name and number on
the card will all remain the same.

Celebration of Dreams Event to Honor 2013 Graduates
Each year, the Children’s Services Division of HCJFS honors the foster youth
graduating high school during a "Celebration of Dreams" ceremony.
The event will take place June 12 at the 20th Century Theatre and will recognize the efforts of 47 youth in foster care who have overcome many obstacles to graduate.

Five Questions with the Frith Family
The
Frith’s decided to adopt both of their children from foster care.
They adopted their second child, Haven, from Hamilton County on
March 7, 2013. Update caught up with the Frith's to ask about
their experience with foster care and adoption.

Summer Youth Employment Program
A partnership between HCJFS, the Cincinnati-Hamilton County
Community Action Agency (CAA) and the Day Group will result in
employment for several hundred teens this summer.
Youth between the ages of 16 and 24 from underprivileged
households gain work experience and job preparation while employers gain
access to summer labor. Youth may be eligible when their household is at
or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guideline.
