Director's Letter: 2014 Resolution: Improved Customer Service

Like everyone else, I like to make New Year’s resolutions. There is no better time to take stock of your life and set new goals for yourself.

I do the same with our organization. While we are constantly looking at ways to improve how we serve the public, the annual turning of the calendar is a great time to publicize our plans for organizational improvement.

This year, the number one goal at JFS will be to improve the customer experience.

HEMI Scholarship Named After HCJFS Director Moira Weir



A new scholarship named after HCJFS Director Moira Weir celebrates the work she has done with the Higher Education Mentoring Initiative (HEMI).

The Moira Weir Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship awarded to an outstanding student enrolled in post-secondary education.

According to Rayma Waters, co-director of CECH PASS, the scholarship was named after Weir because of her commitment, leadership and vision for the HEMI program.

Petra Clay Among Hundreds of Unemployed to Find Help at SuperJobs


At the end of her rope after being turned down by several employers, Petra Clay went to the SuperJobs Center for help and soon after landed a job as a packer for SMX Staffing.

Clay had been unemployed for two years. She found out that the SuperJobs Center offered services for people looking
for a job and decided to go.

Continue to Apply for Medicaid Coverage


More low-income Ohioans are now eligible for Medicaid coverage.

Experts predict about 42,000 Hamilton County residents are newly eligible. That is on top of HCJFS's current caseload, which totals more than 175,000 county residents. That is approximately one out of every four people in this county.
