Jobs Available for Youth Ages 17 to 24

Cincinnati (Oct. 23, 2014) Hamilton County’s OhioMeansJobs Center is hosting a hiring event Saturday for young people to connect with local employers.

The Hamilton County Summer Youth Employment Program has extended into the fall and will host a hiring event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 25 at the OhioMeansJobs Cincinnati-Hamilton County building, 1916 Central Parkway. The event is targeting youth ages 17 to 24.

The “My Life” employment program is designed to develop responsible, well-trained young people for employment. Training included workshops on how to fill out an application and resume, soft skills to employment, work place etiquette, proper attire and mock interviewing.

More than 150 employers participated in the program this year, hiring nearly 750 local young people. To date, those employees have earned $1.23 million in wages.

“We are excited to connect local employers with potential employees, many of whom have benefitted, or will benefit from our job-readiness programs,” said Moira Weir, director of Hamilton County Job and Family Services, which operates OhioMeansJobs Cincinnati-Hamilton County. “Every successful match that we make will help strengthen our community and local economy.”
