OhioMeansJobs hosting workplace drug trends workshop

Hamilton County’s OhioMeansJob Center, 1916 Central Parkway, is co-hosting a workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24 to discuss drug trends in the workplace.

This opportunity is open to any business in Hamilton County that wants to learn more about the benefits of a drug-free workplace. The course will provide information to businesses on three drug trends currently impacting the workplace; prescription drugs/heroin abuse, increased rate of positive tests, and legalized marijuana, The workshop will describe how these trends impact workplace operations. Attendees will learn about addiction as a brain disease and how this plays into treatment and recovery, and identify employers’ best practice strategies for preventing and addressing the issue.

The OhioMeansJobs center is partnering with Working Partners Drug-Free Workforce Community Initiative in Hamilton County, which was launched by IKRON Corporation and more than 20 local stakeholders. Working Partners recently collected data about the perceptions, attitudes, knowledge and practices of businesses as they relate to preventing and addressing substance abuse in the workplace, and a first-of-its-kind community survey was completed.

Those interested should contact Melissa Harmeling to RSVP or for more information. Contact information: mharmeling@ikron.org or 513-621-1117
