Spend-Down Medicaid Program Ending

Due to a State change in Medicaid program eligibility, effective August 1, 2016, the ‘Spend-Down Medicaid’ program has been discontinued.
To ensure the continuation of coverage for individuals during this transition, Ohio is granting additional months of Medicaid coverage to aged, blind, or disabled individuals who met their spend down in any month between August 2015 and July 2016. These additional months of eligibility only apply to individuals eligible for Medicaid under the aged, blind, or disabled category with a spend down prior to August 1, 2016.
If a former Medicaid Spend-Down consumer submits documentation between August 1, 2016, and July 31, 2017, that he or she met their spend down for any month(s) between August 2015 and July 2016, Hamilton County Job and Family Services will determine the individual’s eligibility consistent with specific eligibility rules.
