An innovative partnership to help food assistance recipients find work has earned the “Team Impact” award as part of Hamilton County’s 2018 Circle of Excellence.

The Go Pass from Red Bike is a discounted membership available to residents of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky who receive food assistance (SNAP) or energy assistance (HEAP and PIPP) or are clients of partner organizations.

The Southwest Ohio Region Workforce Investment Board, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, and OhioMeansJobs Cincinnati-Hamilton County (OMJ) will host “Understanding Ohio’s High School Diploma Options”, from 8 to 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 4 at the OhioMeansJobs Cincinnati-Hamilton County site.

Interested in summer employment? Hamilton County Job and Family Services’ previous Summer Youth Employment Program is now part of the Comprehensive Case Management Employment Program, a dynamic year-round program for county youth ages 14 to 24.

HCJFS has partnered with the state and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service in this first-of-its-kind partnership meant to elevate food assistance recipients. The partnership has received national recognition for its innovative approach.

We run a one-stop employment center in Hamilton County and people often ask me what career fields are the most promising.

Of course information technology, truck driving and health care are at the top of the list, but I increasingly point to an old staple for the US economy: manufacturing.
