Hiring Heroes: Annual Veterans Hiring Event Yields Jobs

More than 400 job seekers and 33 employers attended the annual veterans hiring event hosted by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) and the SuperJobs Center April 4.

Robert Sharp, a representative of ProTouch Inc. said he knows it can be difficult for veterans because many have to start at the bottom rung when they get hired at a private business. However, as as a former Marine, Sharp also knows veterans can bring valuable skills to the table.

The ODJFS Veterans Program has been hosting an annual veterans-only hiring event in Cincinnati for the past 13 years. Because the Veterans Program partners with SuperJobs, ODJFS decided to hold the event at the SuperJobs Center this year as well as open it to the public.

Darryl Gaither, an ODJFS Veterans Program representative stated that they would “love to do this every year.”

The SuperJobs Center has a number of hiring events scheduled for the month of May. For more information on other hiring events, visit www.superjobs.com/HiringEvents
