At
the end of her rope after being turned down by several employers,
Petra Clay went to the SuperJobs Center for help and soon after landed a job as
a packer for SMX Staffing.
Clay had been unemployed for two years. She found out that the
SuperJobs Center offered
services for people looking
Clay with Career Coach Kelly Hubers
for a job and decided to go.
SuperJobs helps 1,500 people secure work each year.
“It was very frustrating looking for work and being turned down time
after time. But I wouldn’t give up,” Clay said. “I decided to come to
Super Jobs and see if they could help me.”
The SuperJobs Center had computers to help Clay apply for jobs
online and she attended workshops that taught her interview
skills.
In addition, Clay also utilized SuperJobs’ hiring events. She
attended one for SMX Staffing, a regular employer at SuperJobs hiring
events.
Less than a week later, Clay was offered a position as a packer that
paid $11.00 an hour.
“It felt great to finally have a job offer,” Clay said.
But one obstacle remained, Clay did not have transportation to and from her new job.
Career Coach Kelly Herbers helped Clay get a bus card so she could
make it to work until she began receiving regular paychecks.
“I have had an excellent experience with SuperJobs and would
recommend it to anyone who is looking for a job,” Clay said. “Thank
you.”
