Donate Gifts to Foster Children this Holiday Season

Several thousand toys will be delivered to area foster children through a partnership between Toys for Tots and Hamilton County Job and Family Services this holiday season.

"The holidays can often be a difficult time for many of the children we serve. This time of year is meant to be a time to celebrate family, but many of the children we serve may be disconnected from their biological family or wishing for a forever family," HCJFS Director Moira Weir said. "We can't thank Toys for Tots enough for providing even one small joy to these children during the holidays."

The ongoing partnership between Toys for Tots and HCJFS has resulted in each foster child receiving one large gift and stocking stuffers. Toys included games, dolls, skateboards, balls and baby toys.

This year, HCJFS expects to receive around 1,500 gifts from Toys for Tots.

Once the toys are delivered to HCJFS, workers are given the opportunity to “shop” for the kids on their caseloads based on their knowledge of the child’s individual likes and dislikes.

The Toys for Tots donation will allow the agency to ensure most of the younger children on the agency’s caseload receive a gift. Employees, organizations and other individuals who may also want to donate gifts are encouraged to consider the teenagers in agency care, who may not otherwise receive presents.
