Did you know? Who to call with questions about child care
Since 2010, the delivery
of publicly funded child care in Ohio has gone through a number of major
changes.
Beginning with the
transfer of responsibility for provider payments from the county to the
state and ending with the unveiling of new swipe cards for consumers,
there have been a number of alterations for both providers and
consumers.
And while these changes
have had appreciable benefits for both providers and consumers –
including reduced trips downtown, easy access to attendance information,
and no vouchers to keep track of – it can be difficult for someone new
to the system to navigate the multitude of resources and figure out who
is the best person to call with questions.
Early in 2012, HCJFS
updated the
Child Care Fact Sheets for both providers and consumers to find
answers to common questions and detailed instructions about how to make
changes, report child care connections, and review child care options.
But more recently, as
part of a commitment to effective communication, two Resource Guides
were put together to help both providers and consumers quickly identify
which resource to call, email or fax when they have a question.
For instance, the
Consumer Resource Guide identifies hcjfs.org as the best resource to
download a child care application, complete a child care connection or
search for a provider. By contrast, the Child Care fax, (513) 946-1830,
is the best resource to send applications and verification documents.
And the
Provider Resource Guide sorts through which information should be
submitted through the state’s PWeb (www.eccproviderweb.ohio.gov)
versus HCJFS.org, or who to call for payment information versus Ohio
Electronic Child Care point-of-service device questions.
