Could you be the one to teach him to ride a bike? Could you be the one to take her to her first dance? Could you be the one to walk her down the aisle?
Hamilton County Job and Family Services is kicking off the summer months by launching a social media campaign around #theone, asking prospective adoptive parents if they could be the one who adopts a child and changes their life in so many good ways. The idea will be used in many different ways across platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn.
The campaign kicks off with a video that can be seen here.
“It is a simple question to ask yourself – could you be the one to change a child’s life?” said Moira Weir, director of Job and Family Services. “But it enriches your life, too. And it improves our community. It is a simple question that, if answered affirmatively, leads to tremendously good things.”
Another angle: Adoption takes only one. It doesn’t require a couple or marriage or other children. Just one person can make a difference. As is often said: “Adopting one child won’t change the world; but for that child, the world will change.”
About 200 children await adoption on Hamilton County. Those with questions about foster parenting or adoption can also visit HCKids.org or call 632-6366.
