Celebrating Fatherhood: Meet our Esteemed 7

It has been three years since we launched our focus on fatherhood with the revival of the Fatherhood Collaborative of Hamilton County. We continue the efforts to lift up dads and have grown to offer programs, meetups and many other opportunities for fathers to connect and learn.

Now I’m happy to share that a new event we’re partnering in has reached its second year – The Esteemed Seven: Hamilton County’s Annual Fatherhood Recognition Dinner. The Nov. 17 event honors fathers from all walks of life across our region. These are the outstanding men being honored this year:

  • Arts & Entertainment: Harold Brown, the Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra
  • Business & Entrepreneurship: Lonnie Roland, Proprietor, Nice & Tidy Cleaning Services
  • Community Involvement: Jim Mason, retired CEO, Beech Acres Parenting Center
  • Culinary: Jamel Allen, Chef, Wingman 513
  • Education: Lawrence Cain Jr., CEO, Abundance University
  • Faith: Pastor Bennie Fluellen, Overflow Ministries Covenant Church
  • Health & Wellness: Dr. Quentin Moss, CEO and Founder, Modern Psychiatry and Wellness LLC

These men were chosen because they represent the best of service, family and fatherhood. They join seven others honored last year at our inaugural event. We brought them together last week at a mixer so they could meet, network and talk about what it means to be a father and the struggles fathers face. I enjoyed meeting all of them.

We will continue to build fatherhood programming. We firmly believe fathers are important not only to their children, but to families, neighborhoods and the economy.
